Takalani Sesame, SABC 2’s long-running children’s programme, will be returning for its new season with four new characters being introduced to the fun-filled street.
Takalani Sesame will be premiering its new season on Monday, 1 June 2020, with new and returning characters who entertain viewers in an informative and exciting way. According to a statement from SABC 2 on Wednesday, 27 May 2020, the new season will introduce four new characters. These include; the outgoing 6-year-old Basma and her best friend, Jad, the self-declared “cute, furry little monster,” Grover, and the clucking, squawking Chicken.
The new characters will be joining the veteran muppet friends, Elmo, Zuzu, Kami, Moshe and Zikwe. Managing Director of Sesame Workshop South Africa, Innocent Nkata, stated, “The new season blends the playfulness and humour Takalani Sesame has always been known for with the fundamental lessons that children need to thrive, including cognitive, creative problem solving, and socio-emotional skills, while nurturing the foundational values of ubuntu.”
