The former Bongo Maffin member has excited fans by announcing her upcoming show, which will be an intimate session at the Lyric theatre on Saturday, 24 November 2018.
Iconic South African musician Thandiswa Mazwai will take centre stage at the Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre on Saturday, 24 November 2018. King Tha, as she is affectionately referred to by her fans, is gearing up to host an intimate live show entitled A Letter To Azania.
The songstress shot to fame as the lead vocalist of the hit 90s group Bongo Maffin, which is considered as one of the pioneers of Kwaito. The band has performed alongside international heavyweights such as Stevie Wonder, the Marley clan, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Sean Paul and Chaka Khan, amongst others.
Speaking to local media in an article published on Tuesday, 30 October 2018, Thandiswa opened up about her upcoming show, revealing that it will be a very personal and honest performance. She commented:
“I will reveal intimate details of my childhood and my search for Azania and what it has come to mean,” adding that she is “nervous and excited because I have never done a show so personal.”
The songstress hopes that her fans will get a better understanding of who she is and how spiritual she gets about her work.
The show will feature performances of some of her hit singles, as well as covers of some of her favourite songs. Tickets are available for purchase from Computicket, retailing between R200 and R400, with VIP tickets retailing at R500.
