Thando Thabethe Women’s Day Netball Challenge

Thando Thabethe took to Twitter on Saturday, 13 July 2019, to announce that entries for the Thando Thabethe Netball Challenge are officially open.

South African media personality and actress, Thando Thabethe, has announced that the entries to her annual netball challenge are open. Thando announced the news on Twitter, captioning the post: “Entries to the [sixth] annual Thando Thabethe Netball Challenge are officially open,” Entry forms can be accessed online.

The Thando Thabethe Netball Challenge was founded by Thando in 2014 to raise awareness on issues of domestic violence against women and general issues related to women empowerment. In a statement on her official website, Thando commented, “I play to remind every woman that we are strong, we are powerful and that we are fearlessly and fiercely ready to take on the world.”

Celebrities who have previously taken part in the netball initiative include Noluthando Nqayi, Ms Cosmo, Khanya Mkangisa, Manaka Ranaka, Zola Nombona, Lungile Radu, Jimmy Tau, Motlatsi Mafatshe, Speedy, DJ Fresh and Thato Molamu. The game features an all-women team and all-men team who play against each other as part of the netball challenge initiative.

Team entries can be made online for nine players, two of whom will be reserves as the game includes only seven players. Contributions have to be made per team for an entry and there is a limited space for the entries. Spectators are also invited to come and share in the festivities of the game.

The Thando Thabethe Netball Challenge is scheduled to take place on Friday, 9 August 2019,  at the Klipspruit Sports centre.
