World-renowned indie-rock band, The Cure, will be heading to South Africa in March 2019 to perform at the Rock On The Lawns music festivals in Johannesburg and in Cape Town. The band is playing at a number of shows around the world, as part of their fortieth anniversary celebration tour. The shows will be their first performances in South Africa, and are set to last for approximately two hours.
The first show will take place at the Festival Lawns in Carnival City, Johannesburg, on Saturday, 16 March 2018. Thereafter, they will take to the Kenilworth Race Course in Cape Town on Thursday, 21 March 2019.
In an article published by local media on Tuesday, 4 September 2018, founder of AMP Events, Andy Mac, commented:
“This is the second Rock On The Lawns festival experience we’ve created in South Africa. It’s a fantastic day out with your mates, enjoying great bars, great food and, of course, world-class live artists! All in a comfortable and relaxed environment. Last year, we brought PIXIES out as our headliner and the response was terrific. The Cure has been very high on my list of acts to bring to fans here for a long time, and I’m delighted that we’ve finally managed to make it happen!”
The likes of Karen Zoid, Zebra & Giraffe, Fokofpolisiekar and Ard Matthews are just some of the supporting acts that attendees can look forward to.
Tickets for the event are available for purchase on Computicket, retailing from R495.
