South African real estate offers a wide variety of property, however, there are luxurious homes across the country that have price tags which only an exclusive group of people can afford.
The property market in South Africa has fluctuated in recent years, making buying a home a contentious matter for the majority of the country. However, the hefty prices on the high-end properties are amounts that even some of the wealthiest people in South African cannot afford.
According to Private Property, Cape Town’s Fresnaye has had the title of the most expensive home in South Africa for many years. As of 2020, the mansion is worth R150 million, and is five-bedroom home comprising en-suite bathrooms, an outdoor entertainment pavilion, a wine cellar, sauna and steam shower, and a spectacular view of Lion’s Head.
The property is followed closely by Clifton, also in Cape Town, which is priced just below R150 million. The home has a gym, cinema room, and a rim flow pool with a zen-like mountain garden which leads into the nearby forest. Other homes priced well into the millions include homes in Mouille Point at R88 000 000, Camps Bay at R85 000 000, Bantry Bay at R79 000 000, and Zimbali Coastal Resort at R70 000 000.
