The Weeknd teases new album

The alternative RnB singer is set to release his new album following the release of his EP titled ‘My Dear Melancholy,’ in March 2018.

Singer-songwriter, The Weeknd, has on Tuesday, 8 January 2019, published mysterious visuals on social media, hinting at the release of his fourth album.

The ‘Call Out My Name’ singer is seen posing next to DJ and producer, Gesaffelstein, who is dressed as a ‘living statue’, seemingly metallic, in several pictures posted to his Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.

The pair worked together on music from The Weeknd’s latest EP, where the French DJ was featured on the songs ‘Hurt You’ and ‘I Was Never There’. This makes ‘Lost In Fire’ their third collaboration. The singer did not caption the images on Facebook and Instagram adding to the mystery. On Twitter, he captioned one of the images with question marks and the other, “with the lights on”.

The Weeknd also posted a video where the camera moves straight across capturing the image of the singer and the statue sitting with their backs to each other. The musician, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, retweeted a comment from fellow musician, 6lack, insisting that he release new music. “Streets need new tunes,” the rapper said commenting, on the 11 second clip.

The singer also retweeted a post from a fan account that recalled a 2016 interview where he spoke of recording the fourth album “and now it’s all coming together.” This retweet peaked fans’ interest further.

The video was posted on Monday, 7 January 2019 and has since garnered 1.5 million views. In March 2018 the singer released the six-track EP, ‘My Dear Melancholy,’ which featured the hit song ‘Call Out my Name’. The star’s last album titled ‘Starboy’ was released in November 2016, spawning hits like ‘Secrets’ and ‘I Feel It Coming’ featuring Daft Punk.
