The Wilds season 3 – What would have happened?

The Wilds season 3 would likely have focused on the third phase of Gretchen’s experiment, where both groups would have worked together to survive.

The Wilds was cancelled after just two seasons because the second season was not as successful as the first.

Unfortunately, this means that fans of the series will never get to see what happened to Seth or what would have happened in the third phase of the experiment in the show’s third season.

Why was The Wilds cancelled?

These days, it seems like all of the most popular streaming platforms are doing just about everything that they can to keep subscribers interested. This includes creating as many original shows and movies as possible.

Unfortunately, these shows have to keep outdoing themselves when it comes to viewership, or else they will be replaced, just like any other show on the platform.

The Wilds did quite well in its first season and was renewed by Amazon Prime almost immediately, but the second season of the series failed to live up to these high standards and was ultimately cancelled in July 2022, for this reason.

The Wilds season 3 – What would have happened?

When The Wilds was cancelled just after the second season of the show finished airing, were devastated and disappointed by the news.

Before its cancellation, The Wilds had spent its first two seasons building up a premise that would have set up the third season to be the most interesting and exciting one yet.

The first season of the series mostly focused on the “Dawn of Eve” girls. However, it was revealed at the very end of the season, that there was a whole different group, called the “Twilight of Adam” boys.

This would make up the second phase of Gretchen’s experiment, and be the focus of the second season of the series.

However, in much the same way, the final minutes of season two revealed yet another twist.

In the last moments of season two, the “Dawn of Eve” girls and the “Twilight of Adam” boys, who had been kept separate for the first two phases of the experiment and had no idea that any other groups existed up to that point, were finally brought together.

It does not take an overlord-type head of experiments to know that the third season of The Wilds would most probably have focused on the third phase of the experiment, during which both groups would have had to learn to survive together.

But since so little is known about what was planned for this third season, there are still many questions there are left unanswered. This includes the most pressing question, which is “what happened to Seth?”

Which of the cast members would have returned for season 3?

The Wilds was cancelled just a few days after its second season concluded and as a result, no official cast list was ever released for the third season.

However, it is safe to assume that Rachel Griffiths would have returned in her role as Gretchen Klein, as well as all of the other main cast members.

This includes Sophia Ali, Shannon Berry, Jenna Clause, Reign Edwards, Mia Healey, Erana James, and Sarah Pidgeon from the girls’ group.

From the boys’ group, Charles Alexander, Zack Calderon, Nicholas Coombe, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Aidan Laprete, Tanner Ray Rook, and Reed Shannon would likely have returned.

What happened to Seth?

It did not look like Seth was in the boys’ group at the end of season two and he was also not part of the group that left with Gretchen to monitor the experiment remotely.

Many fans have speculated that Gretchen probably left Seth on the island, expecting that the FBI would find him in season three, but this does mean that Gretchen would also have had to find new moles for the third season.

What would have happened in Phase Three of the experiment?

Before Amazon Prime decided to cancel The Wilds after its second season, Amy B Harris, an executive producer for the show, revealed some of their plans for what the third phase of the experiment would have looked like.

She explained that she was excited to see how these groups, who have created such a bond in their two seasons, would act now that they coalesced at the end of season two.

With Seth seemingly controlling the experiment for the third phase, there is no telling what kind of conflict could be waiting for them.

It would have also been interesting to see if Gretchen would continue to lie about the results of her experiment if the girls did not end up taking the lead in the third phase.
