Thee Legacy has collaborated with hip-hop artists, Kwesta and Kid X, for the release of their first lead single of 2019, Way’sus Uzoyimela, on Friday, 30 August 2019.

South African all-male vocal group, Thee Legacy, have moved on from releasing songs from their 2016 self-titled album. To mark their first release of 2019 and their first lead single from their upcoming album, the group released Way’sus Uyozimela on Friday, 30 August 2019.

The group first announced the single on Wednesday, 28 August 2019, sharing an image of the quintet looking up and smiling at the camera. Their caption read, “New release… Friday Acapella. 30 August. Isicathamiya.”

The single is an upbeat single, which captures why the group has managed to grow in their popularity in the South African music landscape. Thee Legacy managed to use the acapella and traditional sound reminiscent of internationally-recognised group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, on a contemporary beat. For this single, the group worked with past collaborators, RapLyf stable mates, Kid X and Kwesta.

The group previously worked with the aforementioned rappers on their own singles. They worked with Kid X on the Mother’s Day anthem, Mama, which was released to coincide with the holiday. They also collaborated with Kwesta on his hit single, Khethile Khethile, which paid homage to his wedding day and was released on Friday, 31 May 2019.

For the single’s artwork, the five-member group pays homage to their isiZulu roots, with the lead singer dressed in cow hide. The other four vocalists pose alongside him, draping Kenyan Masai-inspired material over their shoulders.

The single is available for purchase on Apple Music.
