South African comedian-turned-American TV show host, Trevor Noah, recently travelled to Japan with fellow South Africans, television personalities, Anele Mdoda and Sizwe Dhlomo.
In a post shared on Friday, 23 August 2019, Trevor Noah shared a group image of the friends’ trip in Tokyo, Japan, posing in front of the Golden Pavilion. He captioned the post, saying, “Tokoyo is an amazing adventure. But an even more amazing adventure is being friends for 15 years and still having fun like when we just met. Trust me when I tell you, the real adventures are in people, not in place(s).” Thereafter, the comedian shared three consecutive images on Monday, 26 August 2019, of scenic visuals taken in various locations throughout Japan.
A number of Trevor Noah’s famous friends commented on the posts, including Khaya Dlanga, Boitumelo Thulo, Miyavi Ishihara and Jessica Alba. Jessica Alba commented with, “My favourite place!”. Fans also shared comments on the pictures, with many praising the comedian for staying true to the people he knew before becoming an international sensation. One fan, Katlego Marothi, shared a comment which stated, “Brother, it’s so amazing to see you constantly waving the South African flag up high in each place that you go.”
Anele Mdoda also shared a number of images of the group on her social media platforms, including one in particular, which showed the group posing in Kyoto, whilst Trevor Noah comedically lurked in the background. She captioned the image, “Happy people: It is a peaceful day in Kyoto!!! Narrator: it was not a peaceful day in Kyoto”.
