The show has been described as a unique weekly panel show that sees top comedians pretending they are politicians to show off their knowledge of national and world affairs – or lack thereof.
According to a statement from SABC 2 on Friday, 4 December 2020, the show was created to offer comic relief to South Africans, who have endured a stressful and tumultuous year due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has led to political struggles as well.
Point Of Order is set in a mock parliament where local comedians become “government” and “opposition” and debate in a series of rounds. Each round is designed to test the knowledge, wit, and quick-thinking ability of the comedians. The debates are presided over by Tumi, who will determine the overall winner at the end of each episode.
