Tweezy delays release of debut album indefinitely

After successfully hosting the listening session for his debut album, ‘Days Before Chosen,’ Tweezy has delayed the album’s release, noting that he is still finalising a few things.

Popular South African rapper and producer, Tweezy, has delayed the release of his long-awaited debut album indefinitely. The album, ‘Days Before Chosen,’ was initially set to be released on Monday, 19 November 2018, which he later changed to the following Monday, 26 November 2018. Since then, the rapper has not been able to confirm a new release date for the album, much to his fans’ disappointment.

Following his features on Kwesta’s ‘Day One,’ alongside AKA, some of his fans were surprised to hear that he is more than just a producer, and urged him to release more music in his personal capacity. Speaking to local media in an interview on Monday, 27 February 2017, the rapper shared his views on producers branching out to establish themselves as artists, noting that it should be motivated by passion and talent. He commented:

“I believe it’s up to your passion and capabilities for you to break out as an artist. Sadly, most producers break out as artists because of the lack of appreciation producers get. Some even just give up on their passions and settle for a normal 9 to 5 or they choose a different career path, all in the name of not being appreciated enough.”

Days before the album’s initial release date, the rapper took to social media to share snippets of the lead single from the album, titled ‘Ayeye,’ which has been well-received by hip-hop lovers around the country. Industry colleagues, friends and fans from Johannesburg were treated to the album’s listening session, which took place on Friday, 16 November 2018, at the J&B Hive.

The twelve-track album includes singles such as ‘Wavey Like uLwandle,’ and ‘For Better Or Worse,’ which feature Ranks and Tamarsha Khanyile, respectively.
