Vusi Nova’s latest album, titled Manyan-Nyan was awarded Gold status on Tuesday, 24 October 2018.
Musician Vusi Nova released his fourth studio album, Manyan-Nyan on 17 August 2018. The album has spawned Nova’s latest hit single, ‘As’phelelanga’, which is a tribute to fallen South African music greats.
On Tuesday, 24 October, Nova announced via social media that the album has been awarded Gold status by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA).
“You guys are truly all God sent! My latest album Manyan-Nyan has just gone “Gold”. Your love and support means the world to me! Thank you, guys, thank you,” he wrote.
Nova recently performed ‘As’phelelanga’ during a live episode of Idols SA, alongside praise poet Jessica Mbangeni.
The performance wowed audiences and remains at the top of trending lists on YouTube. In a post-performance interview with the Idols SA team, Nova explained how the song came about. “It’s simple for me really…these are guys that literally struggled… these guys that I mention in the song fought for our freedom as black people, they fought for me, for us to be able to stand on stages like these…so, that song for me, was a song that just had to happen,” he said.
To achieve Gold album status according to RiSA regulations an album must sell 15,000 digital or hard copy units.
