17-year-old singer-songwriter Billie Eilish released the music video for her single You Should See Me In A Crown on Monday, 18 March 2019.
The Takashi Murakami-directed visuals showcase an animated storyline where the songstress is seen in anime form, performing the dance track. She is surrounded by an intergalactic background as well as different cartoon backdrops. Multiple look-alikes surround her as she solemnly looks at their bland faces, until Billie’s anime figure evolves into a skull-head spider that destroys a fictional town filled with smiling flowers and neon green buildings.
According to Hyperbeat, Murakami features signature references such as flowers and other subtle allusions that incorporate his iconic pop art colour-layering.
The music video was exclusively released on Apple Music, however, a preview of the animated visuals was also released onto YouTube. The 31-second long preview clip has garnered 1.3 million views in well under 24 hours.
The music video is available for purchase on Apple Music.
