Chicago rapper Calboy released the music video for his latest single Caroline, featuring Polo G, on Wednesday, 8 May 2019.
The J.R. Saint-directed music video opens with Calboy accompanied by Polo G as they perform their opening verses in a rundown basketball court. They then appear in a scrap yard, whilst Calboy hops onto the hood of their car and Polo G remains loitering through the location. The visuals have a street-like theme, showcasing various low-income areas as well as the police car lights being edited subtly into the scenes.
In an interview with Complex Magazine, the rapper explained the motive behind his music, stating, “I can only speak on the daily struggles and trials of growing up in the streets. As a young black male in Chicago, my petals darkened yet I still became something beautiful through the mud.”
The music video has garnered well over one million views on YouTube since its release.
