Spanish songstress Rosalía teamed up with Colombian reggaeton singer J Balvin and Spanish producer El Guincho on Con Altura, released on Thursday, 28 March 2019.
The song’s music video is set in a plane, complimenting the extended metaphor of height found in the lyrics. El Guincho flies the plane while Rosalía, J Balvin and an array of friends party in the back. Nearing the end of the video, the flight faces some turbulence, causing the lights to briefly turn off. This does not dampen the party spirit, as the plane is then transformed into an air-borne club.
Con Altura, which translates to ‘with height’, is a catchy and rhythmic piece. Rosalía’s crystalline voice carries the song with her flamenco flair as J Balvin’s deep raps adds bold reggaeton element. Lyrically, the song is a metaphor for taking flight. The artists sing about the success that comes with reaching the height of fame.
