COLORS Studio featured Xitsonga music sensation Sho Madjozi, on their latest edition of COLORS performances, with the artist performing her unreleased single, John Cena.
On Wednesday, 14 August 2019, Sho Madjozi took to social media to celebrate her feat as the latest South African artist featured on popular YouTube channel, COLORS. The hip-hop artist made the announcement with a teaser post, initially asking fans to guess what the series of images were about.
Following correct guesses from her fans, the Huku hitmaker rallied South Africans to retweet the official announcement until her video was posted on the studio’s YouTube channel.
Fans were treated to a pleasant surprise when the artist performed an unreleased single called John Cena. The upbeat single is in line with the artist’s promotion of what she has deemed Swahili Gqom. The song is produced by her long-time producer, T Boy The Flame, and DJ Exit.
In signature Sho Madjozi style, the artist gave a high energy performance as she danced along to her flow. Staying true to her signature brightly-coloured outfits, the artist can be seen dressed in a predominantly pink outfit that matches her signature braids and sneakers. The performance is recorded against a turquoise background.
Having debuted at 16:00, Madjozi’s performance amassed over 15 000 views in less than an hour. Some of the comments left on the comments section stated, “A song about John Cena….I did not see that coming but this song [is a] BOP.” Another viewer wrote, “I’m from Trinidad and I’ve been listening to Sho. So proud to see her even though I’m not African. Keep it up!”
