DJ and musician duo The Chainsmokers released the music video for their latest single Kills You Slowly on Thursday, 11 April 2019.
The music video opens with lead singer Andrew Taggart sitting in a living room, looking frustrated at the fact that his girlfriend stood him up yet again. Duplicated versions of himself appear behind him, documenting his levels of frustration, with them pacing around and drinking.
Taggart then joins fellow member Alex Pall and a drummer in a snowy area, where he passionately delivers the song. Scenes then progress to show Taggart at dinner with his girlfriend’s family as the couple pretend to be okay, before breaking out into a tumultuous argument.
The song hears Taggart singing about playing pretend regarding his failed relationship. He goes on to express his frustration with putting on a façade for friends and family whilst ‘dying slowly’ within.
The music video has garnered over six hundred thousand views on YouTube in under 24 hours.
