American new wave hip-hop artist Trippie Redd released the music video for his current single, Under Enemy Arms, on Friday, 31 May 2019.
Directed by Christian Breslauer, Trippie Redd continues his trend of producing hyperbolised visuals which have a cultural and political commentary on the status quo of his country. Under Enemy Arms is a graphic music video about the violence of war. However, because of the trap nature of the single and Trippie Redd’s aesthetic, the music video still manages to be comical.
The music video visually represents the chronology of going into war. It starts with Trippie Redd dressed as a dictator and holding a press conference, announcing that his “country” is going to war. After this sequence, the music video shows his army, led by him, invading a country and mercilessly killing each other. There is blood, dismembered ligaments and plenty of gore in this sequence.
