What is Pearl Thusi’s Black Rose Gin?

Pearl Thusi announced having acquired ownership equity in local gin, Black Rose Gin, which comes in three different flavours, including Satin Original, Blush Pink and Ruby Blood Orange.

Black Rose Gin took to Instagram on Monday, 4 October 2021, to confirm that the company has shifted its ownership rights. This follows media personality, Pearl Thusi’s announcement that she has acquired ownership equity in the local gin brand. The company confirmed the change in ownership and welcomed Thusi to the Black Rose Gin family.

The company sells three variation of its gins. The first is the trademark Black Rose Gin, which is Satin Original with the signature matte all-back finishing. The second variation offered is the Blush Pink option, which gets its name from the pink colour of the gin. Lastly, the final variation is the Ruby Blood Orange option which, similar to the Blush Pink, derives its name from the colour of the gin. On Takealot, each bottle currently retails for R289.

The company prides itself in being locally owned, as stipulated on the website, “Hidden in the mountains of the Cape just 60 kilometres outside of Cape Town, Black Rose Gin is beautifully crafted in a copper pot for enhanced flavour enrichment. Black Rose is produced using only the finest botanicals and natural ingredients.”
