Zandi Nhlapo has made her debut as Nompi Khanyeza, marking her formal return to SA screens after being missed by television viewers as an SABC 1 continuity presenter.
e.tv’s Imbewu took to Twitter on Friday, 15 October 2021, to share the official confirmation post that iconic media personality, Zandi Nhlapo is set to join the world of its flagship soapie, Imbewu: The Seed. Nhlapo is a media veteran and is most remembered for her role as an SABC 1 continuity presenter.
In the early 2000s, SABC 1 continuity presenters had the status that is best compared to that of Bonang Matheba currently. However, as television trends evolved, the use of continuity presenters was nullified. While Nhlapo did make cameo stints on television in the years that have since passed, the general public was ecstatic at the confirmation that she is set to grace television screens daily as Nompi Khanyeza on the show.
According to a supporting press release from Thursday, 14 October 2021, “Zandi will portray the role of Nompi, who is Fikile’s mother. She shows up again in her daughter’s life to reveal an uncomfortable truth that will leave the world of Imbewu rocking. Her relationship with her now-adult daughter has been strained due to her strict parenting style. Nompi’s school of thought is that a child is always wrong and the mother always knows best. Nompi’s return brings chaos and assertiveness, and her stylish, clean and dramatic dress code will be sure to add some flair.”
Nhlapo made her first appearance on Monday, 18 October 2021, with the rest of the story set to unfold in the upcoming episodes. Imbewu: The Seed airs weeknights on e.tv at 21:30.
