When is 9-1-1 coming back?

9-1-1 is coming back to FOX after its extended winter break on Monday, 6 March 2023.

9-1-1 has managed to stand out from the other procedural shows on FOX because of how unpredictable the show is.

However, even though 9-1-1 remains one of FOX’s most popular shows, it is only coming back on 6 March 2023. This is almost four months after the show’s extended winter break started.

Is 9-1-1 just another procedural?

There are only a few shows in the scripted, everyday-hero procedural category of television shows that draw in audiences beyond than those from their initial launch. But Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear’s 9-1-1 has managed to do just that.

It did not take long for the first season of the show to rise to the top of Fox’s most-viewed shows and by the time that the fifth season of the show concluded in 2021, it was still bringing in well over 8 million viewers.

The reason for this show’s consistent popularity in the midst of such an uncertain time for the world of network television is likely because the show caters to shortening attention spans by introducing a variety of new characters and unpredictable 9-1-1 calls in every single episode.

When is 9-1-1 coming back?

The fact that 9-1-1 has been such a popular part of the FOX line-up after the past few years had made it all the more shocking that the network decided to put the show on an extended hiatus following its mid-season winter break.

9-1-1 initially took a short break near the end of last year (2022), like many other shows do during the winter break, after the ninth episode of season six titled “Red Flag”, which first aired on 28 November 2022.

However, when viewers and fans of the series tuned in to watch it in January of 2023, 9-1-1 was nowhere to be found. To make matters worse, the show was also not included in FOX’s line-up for February 2023.

Fortunately, FOX has confirmed that 9-1-1 will be back on 6 March 2023 with an all-new episode, almost four months after the previous episode of season six aired.

Although another two weeks is an agonising wait for fans of the series that just want to know what will happen next, it is not all that shocking for a show that has had extended hiatuses in the past.

Until this tenth episode of 9-1-1 eventually airs, new episodes of 9-1-1: Lone Star, which is 9-1-1’s spin-off series set in Texas, are currently airing on FOX.

Will 9-1-1 keep the same timeslot when it returns?

Although there were some concerns initially that FOX would move 9-1-1 from its usual timeslot on the channel upon its return in the Spring of 2023, with the air date now set for 6 March 2023, these rumours have been dispelled.

9-1-1 will most likely return to its regular 8 p.m. ET/PT timeslot on Monday evenings for the remainder of the sixth season.

FOX has also confirmed that this season will have 18 episodes in total, just like the previous second, third, and fifth seasons of the series had.

Where did 9-1-1 leave off?

So far, in the first nine episode of 9-1-1’s sixth season, the 118 have really had a tough run.

Hen was struggling to balance her ambitions of being a doctor with her home and work life, Buck decided to become a sperm donor, and Bobby discovered that his sponsor had overdosed shortly before being burned to death.

As the season continues, fans will likely see Bobby as he starts processing the death of his friend and what lies ahead for Buck in his new role as a donor-father.

Not to mention a possible conspiracy theory surrounding the rehab facility at which Bobby’s sponsor was seeking treatment shortly before his death.
