Amy and Samy, who are notorious for their appearance on the “Amy’s Baking Company” episode from Kitchen Nightmares, now live in Israel.
The “Amy’s Baking Company” episode from the sixth season of Kitchen Nightmares drove the experienced and well-renowned restaurateur, Gordon Ramsay, to his breaking point.
But, after all of the drama that followed this episode and the Amy’s Baking Company co-owners, Amy and Samy Bouzaglo, eventually sold the restaurant and have relocated to Israel.
All about the “Amy’s Baking Company” episode from Kitchen Nightmares
Over-the-top drama and fighting are usually par for the course on episodes of Chef Gordon Ramsay’s business-rescue show, Kitchen Nightmares.
But there are a select few fan-favorite episodes which have earned a reputation for being some of the most juicy and dramatic in the show’s history.
The “Amy’s Baking Company” episode, which is part of the sixth season of Kitchen Nightmares, and which first aired on May 10, 2013, is one such an episode.
Where Amy and Samy from Kitchen Nightmares ended up
During this episode, Ramsay visits Amy’s Baking Company, a restaurant located in Scottsdale, Arizona, which had been seeing a drop in business after a slew of poor online reviews.
Samy Bouzaglo had originally invested about $1 million to open the restaurant for his wife, Amy Bouzaglo, but the combination of their short tempers and confusing management decisions had landed the business in hot water.
However, even though Gordon has seen his fair share of confrontational owners who are unwilling to change throughout the course of the show, Amy and Samy proved to be absolutely impossible to get through to.
So Ramsay ultimately ended up cutting his visit short, and left before he could even revamp or upgrade the restaurant.
The drama continued even after this Kitchen Nightmares episode aired, and it eventually got so bad that Amy and Samy sold the restaurant just a few years later.
The couple then moved to California, where Amy started a business selling cannabis edibles.
But the couple’s new life in sunny California was short-lived. Apparently, Amy and Samy had been quietly fighting an immigration case since 2008.
And shortly after the couple’s move to California, Samy was called to immigration court after new details about his criminal record were discovered, and he was eventually even deported.
As of 2018, Amy and Samy have been building a new life in Israel (where Samy is originally from) though they have not opened another eatery in this new country yet.
What happened after the “Amy’s Baking Company” Kitchen Nightmares episode?
Although the “Amy’s Baking Company” episode included almost none of the elements which fans are used to seeing on Kitchen Nightmares, this episode has taken on a life of its own on the internet.
Between Amy and Samy’s various PR campaigns, the never-before-seen footage shared in the “Revisited” episode and the hundreds of memes which were made about the episode, it has gone down in history as one of Kitchen Nightmares’ best.
However, Amy did admit much later on that she had learned to regret the way she behaved on the show, and that she had “grown tremendously” from the entire experience and everything that followed after the fact.
Why did Amy’s Baking Company close down?
It did not take long for Amy’s Baking Company to become its own kind of tourist attraction after the episode aired.
And with Amy and Samy’s odd behavior and the general meme-ability of the episode, people flocked to the restaurant from all over.
However, Amy’s Baking Company turned out to be proof that the adage “all publicity is good publicity” does not always ring true.
Even with this influx of attention, Amy’s Baking Company closed its doors in 2015 and Amy later claimed that the reason for this closure was so that they could “focus on several other projects”.
Amy Bouzaglo is still baking
Even though Amy’s Baking Company eventually closed down and the Bouzaglos had to move their lives halfway across the world, Amy seemingly still enjoys baking in her free time.
Amy regularly shares her new recipes and videos of her many culinary creations on her personal Instagram page, and it seems like she has really refined her craft.
Amy lists her current occupations as “Baking Wizard” and “Content Creator”, and judging from her follower-count, which has now surpassed 30,000 followers, she seems to be doing quite well.
This page features everything from big and colorful celebration cakes to dainty hand-made chocolate figurines.
Although it is not entirely clear whether Amy is selling the baked goods that she creates on a daily basis, she likely generates a revenue from the commission on her Amazon storefront sales.
