Why did Ama Qamata leave Gomora?

Ama Qamata’s role as Buhle on Mzansi Magic’s Gomora came to an end in December 2020, as she had to shoot season two of Netflix’s Blood And Water.

Ama Qamata is noted as one of South Africa’s most notable up-and-coming actresses. The 22-year-old began her acting career at the age of 16 on SABC 1’s My Perfect Family, but began working as a series regular on Mzansi Magic’s Gomora since its premiere in early 2020. She took on the role of Buhle, Thati’s daughter who had to leave her comfortable life in Sandton to live in the township of Alexandra.

In 2020, the actress was also cast as the lead character of Puleng on Netflix’s Blood And Water. The series went on to become an international success and was green-lighted for a second season. In late 2020, Ama and her castmates began filming for the new season, which coincided with her departure from Gomora. The production began filming in October 2020, and Ama’s exit from the Gomora storyline occurred in December 2020, which suggested that she had left the Mzansi Magic series to continue with the Netflix series.

The actress has not commented on her exit from Gomora yet, however, fans are eager to see if she will be brought back to the storyline in the future.
