Fundiswa Zwane was reportedly let go from her role on Imbewu: The Seed after her team asked for an increase in her salary, which she believed was justified.
Fundiswa Zwane appeared on eTV’s Imbewu: The Seed since the show premiered in 2018, taking on the role of KaMadonsela. Despite playing an integral role in the storyline, the production announced that Fundiswa would be leaving the show in July 2020. Although the actress has not confirmed or denied the rumours yet, it is alleged that her sudden departure was caused by her request for a higher salary, which was firmly denied by the production.
In an interview with local media in July 2020, the actress was quoted as saying, “Though my departure from Imbewu was sudden and unexpected, I’m glad it happened with me already working on my first feature film. My aim as a business person is to consistently increase brand value and brand delivery. The exit from the show is to follow a dream that is blossoming now for me and that makes room for the art and business to do just that. Anyone would be remiss to think it was an easy decision, but it wasn’t. My doors always remain open to do business with Imbewu and I’m proud of what we were able to achieve together over the last two-and-a-half years.”
