Why did Manifest get cancelled?

Manifest was allegedly cancelled by NBC due to dwindling ratings, however, Netflix has since confirmed that it greenlit the show for a series finale.

Manifest made its debut on NBC in 2018. IMDb shared the premise of the drama series, “A commercial airliner suddenly reappears after being missing for five years. As those aboard reintegrate into society, they experience guiding voices and visions of events yet to occur, and soon a deeper mystery unfolds.”

The show was meant to be entering into its fourth season, however, in July 2021, NBC confirmed that it was cancelled. No reason was given as to why the broadcaster cancelled the show.

Although, speculation suggests that it was due to the low to middle ratings the show was getting. Despite the speculation, it seems that the show has a cult following which ensured that it has a future on Netflix.

In July 2021, Netflix hosted the show on its platform. Manifest’s availability on Netflix proved to be a beneficial move for both the show and the streaming platform.

This is as Manifest became the most watched show on the platform. Moreover, it broke all of the previous records set by other popular series on Netflix.

The drama series was confirmed to have broken the record for the highest streamed show on the platform. This is as it amassed over one billion views each week for six consecutive weeks.

Considering the aforementioned, it makes sense that Netflix recently confirmed that the show is set to commence with its fourth and final season, which will be commissioned by Netflix.

No further details on the terms of the agreement have been shared yet, or when the show can be expected to return for season four.
