Wanda did not kill Dr Strange as she realised the error of her ways when America Chavez revealed her as the Scarlet Witch in the Doctor Strange sequel.
So far, one of the most successful films of 2022 is the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
This film saw Wanda the Scarlet Witch become the antagonist of the film, only for her to later see the error of her ways and seemingly sacrifice herself instead of Dr Strange and America Chavez.
Elizabeth Olsen on the surprising change in Wanda the Scarlet Witch
In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wanda is the antagonist upon opening the Darkhold and being corrupted by the spells.
This surprised the actress, Elizabeth Olsen, as she stated, “I had a hard time with it, I was like, these are human beings, and Wanda is OK with ending their lives? But I just had to buckle down and think all these people are in her way, and she’s warned Doctor Strange not to get in her way. And he did. He didn’t listen. And so I just had to go from that point of view.”
Why did Wanda not kill Strange?
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness answered one of the biggest questions that many fans of the MCU had, which was, “who would win in a battle between Wanda the Scarlet Witch and Dr Strange?”
Following the conclusion of WandaVision, in which Wanda opened the Darkhold, she returns as the main antagonist in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as the Darkhold showed her that her children exist in an alternate universe known as Earth-838.
Wanda seeks America Chavez’ power, which enables her to travel between universes. During the first epic battle between Strange and the Scarlet Witch, Wanda shows how the Darkhold has made her more powerful than Strange as she can break out of his spell, resulting in Strange and Chavez seeking refuge on Earth-838.
During the final battle, Strange is defeated by Wanda, but Wanda eventually surrenders and seemingly kills herself when she realises how much the Darkhold has changed her into a monster that her children in the alternate universe fear.
Major deaths in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
While Dr Strange did not die, the Scarlet Witch did kill most of the members of the Illuminati of Earth-838, including Black Bolt, Reed Richards, Captain Carter, and Professor Charles Xavier.
Does Wanda die in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?
At the end of the film, Wanda destroys the Darkhold books and caves herself when she destroys Mount Wundagore, which is believed to be when she dies.
Elizabeth Olsen on possible return
“I’m just making the assumption that they’ll have me again. I don’t know to what capacity, but I hope I’m back. I hope there’s also more fun to be had in something different.” -Elizabeth Olsen said in an interview with Variety.
