Hip-hop artist, Yanga Chief, released the second single, 200, from his upcoming EP, Becoming A Pop Star, on Friday, 11 October 2019.
Yanga Chief’s official release of his EP, Becoming A Pop Star (BAPS), is set for Friday, 18 October 2019. To promote the upcoming EP, the artist has released the second single, titled 200, also launching the EP’s pre-order sales.
Ahead of the single’s release, the artist shared the EP’s cover art and track list. 200 reveals Yanga Chief’s growth and ability to adapt his style of rap into different sub-genres of hip-hop. While his lead single, uTatakho, is an up-tempo trap and hook-led song meant for the club, 200 offers an up-tempo, lo-fi and lyricism-inspired hip-hop dance single.
Many of the comments on the single’s release were complimentary, with many social media users focusing on Yanga Chief’s use of isiXhosa in most of his recent releases. Speaking on the song, one social media user predicted, “That 200 joint by Yanga Chief is going to cause a chaos.”
Another fan of the artist compared the two releases from BAPS, saying, “Who [made Yanga mad]? He’s really snapping on #200 #BAPS, If you thought uTatakho was [good]. In my opinion, 200 is four times [better!]”.
The single is available for purchase on Apple Music.
