Published on

Yanga Chief walked away with the Best Hip Hop Album award at The SAMAs, with many agreeing that he is deserving of the nod.

Yanga Chief took to social media to share his message of thanks after his first SAMA win in the  Best Hip-Hop Album category for BAPS. Yanga Chief was awarded on the third night of the televised special on Wednesday, 5 August 2020. The rapper kept his message short, merely thanking God and South Africans for their continued support.

Many of his industry peers celebrated the win by highlighting the contribution he has made in hip-hop. Many highlighted how Yanga Chief contributed to some of the best hip-hop songs behind the scenes for over 13 years.

Other hip-hop artists, like AKA, praised the fact that The SAMAs had finally acknowledged the man behind some of the country’s biggest hits, which he helped produce too. The award validated the musician who is believed to have released uTatakho as his farewell song to the industry.
