Yanga Sobetwa has revealed that she will be one of the main performers at the Euwin Stevens Benefit Concert to raise funds for the aspiring soccer player.
Season 14 winner of Idols SA, Yanga Sobetwa, shared the official poster detailing all the performers that will be a part of Euwin Stevens’ benefit concert. The concert will take place on Thursday, 18 July 2019, at the Artscape Theatre, Cape Town. The poster also revealed the singer as one of five artists that have been organised by musician, Craig Lucas, to headline the event.
The purpose of the benefit concert is to raise funds for the namesake of the concert, Euwin Stevens, who is a talented soccer player from Clarke Estate, Elsies River. The 22-year-old has received a two-year soccer scholarship to study Business Management at the University of Arkansas in the US. The concert is aimed at raising funds that will get the talented soccer enthusiast to the United States.
The community-driven concert will coincidentally take place on Mandela Day and will carry the spirit of the commemorative day. Besides Yanga Sobetwa, the line-up will have a host of musicians that have all gained popularity mostly through popular South African spin-offs of American singing competitions. Paxton, who won season 13 of Idols SA is part of the line-up, including The Voice SA alumni, Craig Lucas, and prominent local jazz artist, Don Vino Prins. The concert will also feature performers from the community like the Pedestrians and the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra.
The concert aims to rise over R80 000, with tickets selling at R167.00. The concert is founded on a Nelson Mandela quote on education that states, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Tickets are available for purchase on Computicket.
