Young & Infamous hip-hop event to take place at Alexander Theatre

The Young & Infamous hip-hop event is set to take place this Saturday, 2 March 2019 and seeks to provide a platform for emerging artists to showcase their talent.

The event is taking place at the iconic Alexander Theatre, previously home to many buzzing and successful events. The venue is a multiple-storey, intricate space that hosts a main bar located in the basement, perfect for an underground hip-hop party.

The alternative hip-hop scene has been causing major waves in South African music industry. These rappers’ diversity and flair allows for growth of the genre, as well as a growth in the South African hip-hop audience as a whole. Dark trap artist, PatricKxxLee, is one example of how this underground movement has been breaking the South African trap ceiling, with his popular debut album, Diary of an Arsonist, and hits like Phonerotica featuring J Molley.

With 12 of Johannesburg’s finest hip-hop and trap artists performing, there is bound to be something for everybody.

Zambian-born PatricKxxLee, trap duo Champagne69, international act Gator; hip-hop DJ Uncle Partytime and trash punk band TCIYF are amongst the plethora of artists set to take the stage.

The show begins at 17:00. Entry to Young & Infamous is only available through RSVP on the event page, making this a free event. There is, however, limited capacity.

Reservations can be made on the official Young & Infamous web page.
