Zakwe and Duncan release AMA Level music video, featuring Assessa and Just Bheki

Published on

Zakwe and Duncan have released the first music video from their joint self-titled album, with AMA Level, featuring Assessa and Just Bheki, being the first to get an accompanying visual.

Zakwe and Duncan, on Thursday, 17 December 2020, released the first music video from their joint album, Zakwe & Duncan, with the release of the AMA Level music video, featuring Assessa and Just Bheki. The music video was shot by Fortune Films, which marks a change from Afrotainment’s constant use of Pilot Films.

The AMA Level music video takes the words of the song and finds ways to personify the punchlines used by the rappers in the verses. Therefore, throughout the music video, there are signifiers that give meaning to the predominantly isiZulu song. Moreover, the music video is based on a house party hosted by Zakwe and Duncan.

Each artist delivers their verse in a specific room in the house. The house party scenes are intercut with visuals from a night out in the township, which juxtaposes the affluence of the mansion, where the house party is hosted, and the authenticity of townships.
