Zakwe and Duncan release self-titled joint album

Zakwe and Duncan have released their self-titled joint album, which details their relationship and how their friendship informed their paralleled rise in the popular iNkabi rap sub-genre.

Zakwe and Duncan released their joint album, Zakwe & Duncan, on Friday, 4 December 2020. The album marks the first joint album that the two leading Durban-based musicians have released, after both starting their journey under DJ Tira’s Afrotainment.

The album details the relationship between the two in diary form; from the first song, it becomes clear that the two will use the one tenet of iNkabi rap, which is to tell stories, as the motif of the album. The first track, Side D, and the second track, Side Z, detail the friendship between the two.

The rest of the album hears the two rappers revealing the commonality in their musical styles, whilst paying homage to Afrotainment and the musicians that have influenced them. Some of the notable tracks on the album include; Onkulunkulu, Everytime featuring Beast and Supreme, Isiqamelo, Ttdid, V-Class, Mkhelele featuring DJ Tira, and Kapteni featuring Kwesta.

The album is available for purchase on Apple Music.
