Zama crowned winner of Idols SA season 16

Zama has been announced as the season 16 winner of Idols SA, after beating out fellow contestant, Mr Music, with both contestants collectively garnering over 20 million votes this week.

Zama is officially the winner of season 16 of Idols SA, as announced in the live finale on Sunday, 13 December 2020, on Mzansi Magic. The Witbank-resident had been a part of the competition in its first-of-its-kind format, which saw them performing for no audience each week, in compliance with the Alert Level 1 rules and regulations.

According to a statement from Mzansi Magic today, 14 December 2020, Zama and runner-up, Mr Music, collectively garnered over 20 million votes in the past week, making it a close run between the two. Mzansi Magic also revealed that Zama would be walking away with R1 million, a recording deal from Kalawa Jazmee, R150 000 worth of the latest Samsung products, the all-new Toyota Starlet 1.4, R100 000 worth of fashion from Truworths, a Kymco Xciting 400 scooter worth R120 000, and R80 000 worth of musical instruments from Yamaha.

The evening also saw a special performance from Idols SA judge, Somizi Mhlongo, who joined award-winning singer, Vusi Nova, for their performance of their recently released single, Ntandane.
