Zodwa Wabantu celebrates successful appearance in eSwatini

Zodwa Wabantu took to her social media pages to celebrate her recent successful appearance in eSwatini, sharing that she made the front cover of the country’s national newspaper.

On Saturday, 3 August 2019, media personality, Zodwa Wabantu and Durban-based musicians, Babes Wodumo and DJ Tira, performed in eSwatini as part of the Baceth Hardware Music Festival. Throughout the weekend, the star shared images and videos on social media of the welcome she received from the communities they visited. Moreover, on Monday, 5 August 2019, Zodwa Wabantu shared an image of her appearance having made the front cover of the national newspaper.

Taking to her Instagram page, Zodwa Wabantu shared an image of the newspaper’s headline, which read, “6 000 cry for Zodwa Wabantu magic…” In her caption to the newspaper clipping, the Zodwa Wabantu: Uncensored reality star reiterated the sentiments writing, “Caption, 6 000 Cry for Zodwa Wabantu Magic. Swaziland.” Zodwa Wabantu added celebratory emojis as she basked in the moment.

The achievement of being celebrated by the national newspaper and the citizens of eSwatini comes after the star’s first scheduled appearance was marred with controversy. Zodwa Wabantu and Babes Wodumo were scheduled to perform in the country earlier in the year at a music festival that featured a variety of music genres, including gospel.

Religious leaders condemned the appearance of the star because of her provocative dance moves and fashion style. However, Zodwa Wabantu was defiant and at the time stated, “So I’m booked in an event that will have a Bishop!!! Is it my problem? What society/community feels. [You also have your own demons.] Let’s pray as a nation not judge each other. God is Love.”
