Zodwa Wabantu raises concerns with crowdsurfing video

Published on

Zodwa Wabantu has, on multiple occasions, been condemned for ignoring COVID-19 protocols, and has now sparked much conversation with her crowdsurfing video.

Zodwa Wabantu shared an Instagram video on Wednesday, 10 March 2021, where she was seen diving into a crowd of over 100 people, who held her up as she crowd-surfed. Along with being in direct contact with the people in attendance, Zodwa Wabantu, like many others in the video, was not wearing a mask and was seen kissing her fans as she moved through the crowd. Aside from her suggested breach of COVID-19 protocol, the venue she was in saw a large group of people in an enclosed area, with little to no ventilation.

Fans have consistently expressed their concerns about her behaviour and have asked that she take responsibility as a public figure, to promote the correct way of living during the pandemic. One user commented, “Please become a responsible celebrity and ensure that COVID regulations are adhered to when performing.” Another user stated, “She does it and posts it but no repercussions? Isn’t it against the law to do every single thing seen in the video? No fear?”
