South African entertainer, Zodwa Wabantu, hints at a perfume release scheduled for 2020

Following recent controversy that has surrounded the entertainer as of late, Zodwa Wabantu maintains that she is for the people, no matter what is said about her.

South African entertainer, Zodwa Wabantu, shared a video on Instagram of an interview at the DStv screening of the film, The People Versus The People, on Thursday, 11 July 2019. In the video, Zodwa can be heard responding to how she triumphs as the people’s person in spite of all that is said about her. The caption of the video reads, “I’m becoming stronger every day. Industry [has opened up] I’m using it wisely”.

Zodwa has been trending recently following two social media uproars. Zodwa trended on Twitter in a video shared on Sunday, 7 July 2019, following a video clip from her reality show wherein she can be heard making comments about the LGBTQ+ community in the media industry. Her comments were considered by many as homophobic, with many of her followers saying that she should issue an apology due to the nature of violence inflicted on the LGBTQ+ community because of homophobia. Zodwa, again, caused a social media stir with her 2019 Vodacom Durban July outfit which was considered by some as too revealing.

The interview from the premiere captures Zodwa saying that people always want to break other people. In the video, Zodwa states that she is one person who always has people talking about her and that is who she is. She continues to say that she doesn’t mind what is said about her, she is merely trying to survive. She goes on to say, “We are in a world where we are trying to survive, we don’t care about anyone…I make people talk, I make people cry, I make people think about me so I’m for the people they, must talk”.
