Zozibini Tunzi, the reigning Miss Universe, has shared a close-up image of herself on social media, in which she showcased traditional Xhosa-inspired face art.

Zozibini Tunzi’s latest Instagram post today, 29 May 2020, saw her embracing her South African roots while in Los Angeles. The beauty queen shared a close-up image of herself, taken by Johannesburg-based photographer Blaq Smith, as she posed in a dimly lit studio.

The look featured traditional Xhosa-inspired face art around her eyes, with six dots above the eyebrows and three dots below. Zozibini’s eye makeup was done with a pigmented silver cut-crease, which was blended with a deep bronze. The unnamed makeup artist also chose to add eyeliner to the lower lash, completing the eye look with medium-length eyelash extensions. Her face was kept relatively natural, as she wore clear gloss on her lips.
